Welcome to another tutorial of the “how to MQTT” series. In this tutorial, we will learn how to use the MQTT in python. Also, we will learn how to make MQTT dashboard in Python. That is really going to help in IoT-based projects.
The data which we will be showing on MQTT dashboard will be coming from ESP8266, DHT11 sensor which we programmed in our last tutorials.
To start this tutorial, i will recommend some pre-requisites, which i have covered in my previous tutorials. You should know what is mqtt protocol, how publish/subscribe model works, how to select topic names and how to usq MQTT protocol in ESP8266, MATLAB , Raspberry pi and how to make your own MQTT broker.
Talking about broker, i am using RYC1001 IoT cloud by REYAX technologies and they are the sponser of this tutorial.
The reason for choosing python is that python is easy to learn and use, and the community of python is very strong and there are hundreds of libraries and frameworks that you can use in python for free. Another reason is that when I made the last video MQTT in MATLAB, people complained that MATLAB is not free, so they can use python and they can do anything with data on python that they can do on MATLAB as well.

MQTT in Python
The first step is to install the library, which you can do that by typing the following pip command in terminal,
pip3 install paho-mqtt
the following is the code which will help you do the publish or subscribe the message,
from paho.mqtt import client as mqtt_client import json broker = 'iot.reyax.com' port = 1883 topic = "api/request" topic_sub = "api/notification/37/#" # generate client ID with pub prefix randomly client_id = 'your client id' username = 'your username' password = 'your password' deviceId = "your deviceId" def connect_mqtt(): def on_connect(client, userdata, flags, rc): if rc==0: print("Successfully connected to MQTT broker") else: print("Failed to connect, return code %d", rc) client = mqtt_client.Client(client_id) client.username_pw_set(username, password) client.on_connect = on_connect client.connect(broker, port) return client def publish(client, status): msg = "{\"action\":\"command/insert\",\"deviceId\":\""+deviceId+"\",\"command\":{\"command\":\"LED_control\",\"parameters\":{\"led\":\""+status+"\"}}}" result = client.publish(msg,topic) msg_status = result[0] if msg_status ==0: print(f"message : {msg} sent to topic {topic}") else: print(f"Failed to send message to topic {topic}") def subscribe(client: mqtt_client): def on_message(client, userdata, msg): #print(f"Recieved '{msg.payload.decode()}' from '{msg.topic}' topic") y = json.loads(msg.payload.decode()) temp = y["notification"]["parameters"]["temp"] hum = y["notification"]["parameters"]["humi"] print("temperature: ",temp,", humidity:",hum) client.subscribe(topic_sub) client.on_message = on_message def main(): client = connect_mqtt() subscribe(client) client.loop_forever() if __name__ == '__main__': main()

I loved your first video using Raspberry pi a local server but in the video you have changed to China I am using ewelink and wanted to get away from China so I will not be following your channel thanks
I appreciate for liking my content. I used chinease cloud because they sponsored me and i believe this is necessary because i invest time in making videos, but i also suggested some free clouds aswell.
